Rooted & Reaching is a cohort-based leadership program for teens designed to explore culture, community, and global responsibility. Developed by Culture Encounters in partnership with Alix Collins, a Sustainable Tourism Specialist, the program helps young people grow as thoughtful travelers, engaged citizens, and culturally aware leaders. Through workshops, local cultural experiences, and guided reflection, participants explore global cultures while connecting what they learn to their own identities and communities. Students gain practical skills in ethical travel, leadership, and civic engagement while learning how to engage respectfully with people and places different from their own. The program brings together a small cohort of teens who learn together over several months through interactive sessions, community engagement, and cultural exploration. Participants prepare for a meaningful travel experience while building leadership skills that encourage curiosity, humility, and responsibility.​
